Day 1: ArushaTransfer from Kilimanjaro to Rivertrees Country Inn, under Mt. Meru. Overnight Rivertrees Country Inn. Day 2: Tarangire National ParkYou go to Tarangire camp, set in acacia woodland and grassland on the northern boundary of Tarangire National Park, for lunch. In the afternoon of your Tanzania safari tour you enter Tarangire National Park which is characterised by giant Baobab trees and famous for its Elephants, plains game and predators, and also boasts a large variety of bird life, including endemic species. Day 3: Tarangire National ParkFull day game drive with picnic lunch, ranging far and wide. The Elephant have a fascinating way of communicating with subtle interactions, which your Guide will be able to point out and share with you. Early evening ethno-botanical walk from camp, with local Maasai. Day 4: Lake Manyara National ParkDrive to Lake Manyara National Park, passing through the cool ground-water forest before reaching the Lake shore. The Park is best known for its tree climbing Lions, but you are more likely to see Elephants, Giraffe, Zebra, Wildebeest, primates and a wealth of birdlife. Picnic lunch in the park and afternoon game-drives. You return from your Tanzania safari tour as the sun sets behind the distant highlands and climb the escarpment to Kirurumu Tented Lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight. Day 5: Ngorongoro CraterEarly morning ethno-botanical walk including visit to local Iraqw tribe. After breakfast, depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area, ascending to the rim and preparing for the magical sight of the Ngorongoro Crater, which will bewitch your senses.
Descend into the Crater for a tour around the Lerai Acacia Forest and the crater floor, looking for giant-tusked Elephant, rare Black Rhino and the black-maned Lion. Ascend the crater rim in the early evening, through verdant montane forest, for dinner / overnight Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Day 6: Ngorongoro - Walking With MaasaiMorning game-drives in the Ngorongoro Crater, followed by lunch back at Ngorongoro Serena. In the afternoon you head out to the rolling hills of the Ngorongoro Highlands to meet a Maasai chief, who guides you around the nearby bomas and on an afternoons walk in the surrounding area. In the late afternoon head back to Ngorongoro Serena for dinner and overnight. Day 7: Ngorongoro – Serengeti National ParkIn the morning of your Tanzanian safari tour, you will depart for the Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge to visit the small but interesting museum of this famous archaeological site. Continue on a game-drive through the vast Serengeti National Park to the Serengeti Classic Camp for lunch. In the afternoon head out for game drives before returning to camp for dinner and overnight Days 8 & 9: Serengeti National ParkFull day game drives in the Serengeti, home to the greatest concentration of large mammals on earth. The land is characterised by vast stretches of open plains, punctuated by kopjes, rock formations that have survived from the Pre-Cambrian period, and more rolling, hilly, mixed savannah woodland, cut by seasonal streams and rivers that nurture huge trees. At night relax by the campfire, under a canopy of stars. Day 10: Serengeti - ArushaAfter breakfast, transfer to Seronera airstrip to connect with return flight to Arusha. Upon arrival there will be time for some shopping/browsing and a dayroom will be available before final farewell dinner and transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for the return international flight. |
