Day 1: Depart Dar Es Salaam to Selous Game ReserveYou will depart from Dar es Salaam domestic terminal for your flight to Selous Game Reserve. Transfer by light plane (approximately 45 minute flight) to the heart of the Selous Game Reserve. You will be met by safari staff and transferred to your luxury Selous Safari Lodge. Enjoy a delicious lunch before departing on an afternoon game activity. The Selous Game Reserve is a unique Tanzania safari destination; a vast wildlife area of forests, woodlands, lagoons, sandbanks and lakes. Predators in Selous include lions, leopards, cheetah and the spotted hyena. Buffalo, elephants, rhino, hippos, wild dogs, crocodiles, wildebeest, impala, waterbuck, zebra, eland, the greater kudu, sable antelopes, giraffe, baboon, vervet and blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkey are regularly seen. Selous Game Reserve has over 2,100 species of plants, 350 species of birds, 60,000 elephant, 108,000 buffalos and an estimated 1,300 of the worlds’ approximately 4,000 remaining rare wild dogs. Day 2 & 3: Selous Game Reserve, TanzaniaSpend your days on Selous safari activities and experience meals with sundowners in this incredible African reserve. Besides 4x4 excursions and walking safaris, a major attraction is the boat excursions on the Rufiji River. Hippo, crocodile and many species of bird can be observed up close and personal from the boat. This Selous safari in Tanzania also offers the unique opportunity of walking safaris through the African bush. Accompanied by an armed ranger, you will learn how to track, identify dung and the medicinal uses of various plants and trees. Walking close and safely with animals and birds is an incredible safari adventure. After lunch, there is always the opportunity for a siesta or a swim whilst the heat of the day subsides. In the afternoon, experience game drives in open vehicles which are perfect for exploring the untouched habitat of Selous Game Reserve. Day 4: Return to Dar Es SalaamAfter breakfast, enjoy a short game drive en route to the airstrip for the flight to Dar es Salaam. Arrive in Dar es Salaam for your onward journey. |
