Lemala's open 4x4 vehicles are specially designed for long game drives with each vehicle featuring comfortable seats, charging units and a large refrigerator. On full day game drives delicious picnic breakfasts and lunches are provided by the camp chefs. Major game viewing areas of Central, Southern or Western Serengeti are easily accessible.
The 14 763 square kilometres (5000 square miles) of the Serengeti are probably most famous for being the southern end of the Great Migration. Big game viewing is always excellent due to the water resources and fertile soils. Huge herds of Wildebeest, Zebra and Thompson’s Gazelle gather during the annual migration to the Masai Mara in search of fresh grasslands.
Usually in June, around 1.5 million animals follow their instincts and start the 1000km (621 miles) trek north into the Mara, crossing crocodile infested rivers on the way. Many predators follow their every move, hunting the young and weak and those unable to keep up. The return journey south back to the Serengeti depends on seasonal indicators but usually starts in October.
